About Tabriz University of Medical Sciences
Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (TUOMS), a prestigious university in Iran, was founded in 1946. TUOMSis home to several nationally well-known infrastructures, schools, departments, research centers and institutes. Known as the second largest national medical university, TUOMSprovides a wide range of educational programs and research opportunities, as well as accommodating a vivid leading publishing group in Iran
TUOMS PRESS
TUOMS PRESS acts as a leading publishing group nationally and aims at expanding its activity to an international level by flourishing and furnishing new dominions of medical sciences.
TUOMS PRESS publishes several academic journals in the field of medical, biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences and technologies, in addition to scientific books and monographs. The Majalle-ye Pezeshki (Medical Journal) lunched in 1959 is one of the leading journals in the field of medical research in Iran. Today, TUOMS PRESS has expanded its publishing activities to 10 scientific journals in English and two in Persian.
TUOMS PRESS is directed by the Bureau for Health Informatics & Scientific Resources, a division of the Department of Vice Chancellor for Research & Technology at TUOMS. As part of the Bureau for Health Informatics & Scientific Resources, the Academic Publication Office is the responsible group and works collaboratively with editorial offices around and off campus.
The Council for Scholarly Journals, the Experts Committee for Scholarly Journal Publication, and the Council for Books and Monographs determine the policies governing TUOMS PRESS.
The Council for Scholarly Journals
The meetings of the Council for Scholarly Journals are held to discuss and determine the scientific goals, strategic plans, and the road map, as well as the policies governing TUOMS PRESS journals.
The members of the council include the Vice Chancellor for Research & Technology, the Director of Health Informatics & Scientific Resources, the Supervisor of the Academic Publication Office, and the Chief Editors of the journals published by TUOMS PRESS.
The Experts Committee for Scholarly Journal Publication
To enable further research and development in scholarly publication, the Experts Committee for Scholarly Journal Publication holds frequent meetings to explore new areas of interest and to develop strategic plans in dealing with challenges and the expansion of activities. Directors and advisors are equal members and contribute to the discussions of this committee.
The Council for Books & Monographs
The members of the council include the Vice Chancellor for Research & Technology, the Director of Health Informatics & Scientific Resources, the Supervisor of the Academic Publication Office, and five expert faculty members.
The meetings of the Council for Books & Monographs are held to discuss policies governing publication of books and monographs, facilitated or published by TUOMS PRESS.

Vahideh Zarea (Gavgani) received her PhD in Library and Information Science from Osmania University in India in 2009. She completed a six-month project-based education in Altmetrics at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Canada, from December 2018 to July 2019. She serves on the editorial boards of several national and international journals and is the Editor-in-Chief of Depiction of Health, a Persian-language journal published by Tabriz University of Medical Sciences

Ali Shayanfar received his Pharm.D. (2009) and Ph.D. (2013) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Currently, he is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Faculty of Pharmacy, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, and Editor-in-Chief of Pharmaceutical Sciences journal (Indexed in Web of Science and Scopus). Dr. Shayanfar has authored over 100 publications in peer-reviewed international journals with an h-index of 30. He is a member of professional associations, including the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the National Medical Association of Iran, and the National Pharmaceutical Association of Iran.

 Sina Ghertasi Oskouei, DDS, Clinical Informatics Fellowship

Dr. Ghertasi is a researcher at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (TUOMS) within the Section of Digital Dentistry. He previously served as the Supervisor of the Academic Publication Office, where he played a key role in establishing and advancing the university’s academic publication infrastructure, including developing internal protocols for journal management, editorial workflows, and academic publishing processes.
He currently serves as the Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Advanced Periodontology & Implant Dentistry (JAPID), a TUOMS publication in association with the Iranian Academy of Periodontology.
In addition to his work with JAPID, Dr. Ghertasi has been actively involved with another TUOMS title, Journal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects, as Assistant and Associate Editor for over a decade. His contributions helped elevate the journal to its current standing.
Beyond his former supervisory role, Dr. Ghertasi remains a consultant member of the TUOMS Publications Committee, where he continues to provide guidance on peer-review coordination, maintaining editorial integrity, and fostering collaboration between faculty and external contributors.

Mr. Shokraneh has hold a master's degree in Medical Librarianship and is currently working as Trials-Search Coordinator at Cochrane Schizophrenia Group at the University of Nottingham. As an ex-academic member at TUOMS, Mr. Shokraneh, together with Dr. Ghertasi and Prof. Omidi, drafted the initiative for academic publication at TUOMS. Mr. Shokraneh remains an advisor of TUOMS on the issues of academic scholarly publication and the Managing Editor of BioImpacts.
